R‑32 (difluoromethane) is a modern, single‑component hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerant used increasingly in air conditioning systems in Malaysia and globally. It has zero ozone depletion potential (ODP = 0) and a much lower global warming potential (GWP) than older refrigerants such as R‑410A. R‑32 enables good cooling performance, higher energy efficiency, and less refrigerant charge per cooling capacity due to its favorable thermodynamic properties. It is used in systems specifically designed for it (inverter split units, etc.), because it operates at higher pressures and has mild flammability (Safety class A2L)
