Refron R‑22 is a hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) refrigerant fluid, marketed in a 13.6 kg cylinder, produced in India. It is used in split and window type air‑conditioning and refrigeration systems designed for R‑22, providing efficient cooling with a boiling point of about ‑40.8 °C. The gas is non‑flammable, colourless, and has high purity (≥ 99.8 %) with low moisture and acidity content. Note: R‑22 has environmental concerns—its ozone depletion potential (ODP) and global warming potential (GWP) are relatively high—and it is being phased out globally, so its use is limited to servicing existing systems.
